Protecting You and Us from Cross Infection

Effective and efficient infection control in the dental office is essential for the safety of patients and to ensure that productivity does not suffer. The dental staff must do the following before performing any procedure Appropriate protective measure prior to beginning work – taking hepatitis B vaccine; considering each patient potentially contaminated; making sure that all instruments are sterilised; protecting working surfaces. Hand washing Hands should be washed before and after coming in contact with the patient. Allergic Angioneurotic Edema

Angioedema is an area of swelling of the lower layer of the skin and tissue just under the skin or mucous membrane. Occur in face, tounge, larynx, abdomen or arms and legs. It can be life threatening if swelling causes tongue / throat to block the airway. Immediate management starts with antihistamine medication (in case of allergic angioneurotic edema). Are there any warning signs of attack? Attacks are unpredictable and may warn you with irritability, anxiety, extreme fatigue, rash or irritating sensation of skin with beginning of swelling.   Is it life threatening?
